I cant see the SEC engaging in criminal actions to enforce the law.
As for Charis well she is the laughing stock of the industry so who knows what depths she will sink to.

Sites need to really utilise the anti ddos software that is availible and as far as i am aware there is a shareware from Apache so there is no real excuse for not having protection.

asking for so much money or they would be ddos'd...

What would you do if you had the SEC after you? YOU have no idea how manipulative and powerful any of the government agencies are, and SEC attorneys are not to be fooled with. Even if they don't have a legitimate case, they do not let go of the bone. Gov't agencies don't make mistakes, not if they can overpower you. Do you know that the going rate for someone like Charis to hire a defense SEC attorney could be $300-$500/hr??? And in her position, she probably would need two, (or so they would tell you).
Yes los, the SEC could indirectly be responsible for this, but the 'common' person would never find this out. If it is found out who is behind these ddos attacks, we may learn some truth, but not THE truth. The truth can be bought.
I do suspect that since verio and bank hosting was involved, there will be some information flying around. Offshore, and untraceable except by the best intelligence. (And mrsvee of course).
