Some members have suggested having an `in-between` folder for placing programs which aren`t exactly alive and kicking, but on the other hand aren`t really closed. I guess a type of `Watching and Waiting` or `Keeping An Eye On` folder.
The danger is that things can get a little too complicated the more similar folders we have, on the other hand it might be of some benefit to anyone not sure of the status of a program.
The poll just appeared a couple of days ago and is now closed? I guess I missed this thread because this is the first I've seen of it.
I think this is the best idea I've heard in a long time and I had considered suggesting it myself. We need to have some way of letting our membership know that there are reasons for concern about a program without labeling it as a scam. I'm in favor of doing what we can to help prevent people from being unwittingly sucked into questionable programs without understanding that there are concerns about them. A 'watching and waiting' folder would be directly beneficial to our members by making it easier to see which programs have issues they should be aware of. Not having such a folder makes it easier for scammers to do their dirty work because we're less likely to draw attention to a questionable program if the only way to do that is to put it in the scam folder.
To me it comes down to a question of whether we're more interested in taking a cautious stance (as we often counsel others to do) and so provide more benefit to otherwise unwary members, or being forced to allow a program to appear like a good, solid program even if there are issues, because we don't want to call it a scam yet...
I'd like to see more discussion on the question of a 'watching and waiting' folder and for the poll to be reopened so that more than .089% of the membership have a chance to vote.
Well the opportunity has been there for all members to vote, but clearly only a very small minority of those who`ve taken a look at the thread have felt strongly enough to register a vote.
We are keen however to get a cross section of ideas and views, so let`s keep the poll running for a further week.
We`re keeping the poll open till the 28th by which time any member who wishes to can cast a vote. With only 5 votes so far it doesn`t seem to be generating a lot of interest.
Either way, members, if you do have a view it`s helpful to vote so we can reach a decision about whether or not to set up a new folder.
Could we use this folder to warn other investors about lies that certain hyips say in their website? For example, I discovered some lies told by a company registered in my country.
Well, investing in a hyip is always like gambling but probably most of us would like to invest in programs that are a little bit more transparent or that dont tell lies.
This is the first I've seen this thread and I totally agree with Zimbu. This folder could also include those noted to have varied "rating" in the rating sites and also those that seem to be 'hit or miss' payers. Like the middle ground - not yet proven -not yet scam. Guess it would be more work for the mods to make moves to this folder based on their own discretion.
It is very frustrating to have a number of programs which are hanging on to life with promises of `reconstruction taking place` or other what they like us to think of as short-term difficulties. Do they still belong in the `live` folder, or are they `closed?`
This is where the proposed new folder would be of value where we could put those which are neither paying out as they should, nor are they closed in the true sense of the word.
Tell us, then, what you would call such a folder if we go ahead and set one up.
