The way I understand it, it is that a member offers to pay for someone else to sign up under them in a program, normally with a view to building a downline.
Less usually, a member may choose to help someone out by providing the necessary means for them to enter a program, whether an MLM, HYIP, Surfer, Cycler etc

Oh, but then as per my experience, the person being sponsored won't do his/her utmost best coz it's not his/her money anyway....what does he/she has to lose?
How sure are they that the people they sponsor (as spend $ for) are going to really work as they don't have any collateral/capital to risk with...

Benefactoring can help the Benefactor increase their income and grow their downline. It does help others get started and may be beneficial to both parties if the program has a forced structure with spillover benefits.
